Session Description
A documented, comprehensive plan can bring both organizational engagement and success to your workforce recruitment and retention efforts. This session will focus on strategic planning as well as recruitment topics such as setting priorities and a budget; advertising; developing a solid interview process; and documenting successes. In addition, this session will also cover some of the components of a healthy retention plan and how to put them into place. The training will provide a brief overview of the available data, resources available to support these processes through the STAR² Center.

Each health center will create a defined workforce strategy for recruitment and retention by:

  1. A summary of occupational priorities for the health center, as determined by internal input, which focuses on short- and long-term talent pipeline needs;
  2. A plan that addresses recruitment efforts, focusing on both internal and external candidates;
  3. A plan that addresses selection and onboarding efforts, that focuses on enhancing the selection process (to increase evidence-based decision making) and supporting new hires in a manner that leads to long-term retention;
  4. A plan that addresses long-term retention efforts, that focuses on strategies for advancement of internal candidates for new positions as well as long-term job satisfaction;
  5. An analysis of the existing internal recruitment/on-boarding/retention infrastructure within the health center to determine opportunities for growth and improvement;
Session Objectives
  • Health center workforce professionals will develop a comprehensive recruitment and retention plan
  • Health center workforce professionals will be able to identify three keys to successful recruitment
  • Health center workforce professionals will be able to identify the most common roadblocks and barriers to successful recruitment and retention and implement two workable solutions
