Chief Administrative Officer - Erlanger Community Health Centers

  
    Responsible for directing, supervising and coordinating key functions and activities of the Erlanger Community Health Centers, including new sites to be established, while ensuring that operating performance meets budgeted targets, UDS benchmarks and other performance and outcome criteria. Assumes full administrative responsibility by delegation, and in the absence of the Chief Executive Officer. Works in collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer, Directors, Managers and Supervisors to optimize performance, while fostering effective integration with Erlanger Health System (EHS). Provides guidance and direction to the team following best practice guidelines to insure the provision of high quality, cost effective services to those in need. Works with and leverages existing resources for the benefit of the health centers and the health system. Works to provide measurable outcomes and to advance the quality of care provided. Advocates and guides staff to advance customer service, clinical excellence and performance improvement. Oversees and manages the health centers outreach and enabling division which serves as the central hub for addressing Social Determinants of Health. Supports the preparation and filing of reports and grant applications to HRSA and others.

    Assist the Chief Executive Officer in leading and directing the overall support service operations of the organization. In accordance with patient/customer needs, government regulation, and compliance with company policy to focus on maintaining excellent clinical care. The Health Center Administer will also assume the oversight of the support service areas. Inform employees of new policies and other changes. Develop work schedules for all employees. Coordinate with doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals to identify their issues and needs. Respond to questions from doctors, nurses, and patients in a timely manner. Ensure all departments comply with the current healthcare laws and regulations.

    This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practice's patient population. Participates in the practice’s quality improvement process and performance evaluation.

    Key Responsibilities:

    This employee is responsible for monitoring, organizing and planning the day to day activities of all of the health centers. Person is responsible for assuring that the health centers meet JCAHO/DNV and federal grant/HRSA guidelines and standards. Responsible for assisting in the development of grant applications and budgets. Responsible for approving purchase orders as required by hospital policies. Addresses and responds to patient and/or client complaints. Position requires good verbal and written skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time.

    Required Education and Experience:

    Education:

    • Required: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equal years of experience.

    • Preferred: Master’s Degree in a related field preferred.

    Experience:

    • Required: Three years or more of progressive experience in a primary health care facility or the equivalent of education, experience, and responsibilities. Knowledge of health information systems, regulations, laws, and policies, including those related to the medically underserved. Working knowledge of the clinical operations of a community health center and HRSA.

    • Preferred: Five or more years or more of progressive experience in a primary health care facility or the equivalent of education, experience and responsibilities.

    Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration

    • Preferred: Leadership training, coaching, or certifications.

    Our History

    Chattanooga's original Community Health Center was started in 1968 with the establishment of the Alton Park Neighborhood Health Center (now Southside). In 1976 the Health Center expanded to the eastern portion of Chattanooga with the opening of another facility on Dodson Avenue. In 1977, the Community Health Center locations became a part of the Erlanger Health System. Lastly, Premier Health Care on Lyerly Street became the third Erlanger Community Health Center location.
