(Excerped from the 2016 Annual Leadership Conference opening remarks.)
The Tennessee Primary Care Association held its 2016 Annual Leadership Conference in September. This year’s theme was "There’s No Place Like a Health Care Home." Here are some fun facts about our theme:
The line “There’s no place like home†was made famous in the film The Wizard of Oz. I’m sure all of us have seen this 1939 American film starring Judy Garland, Ray Bolger, Jack Haley and Bert Lahr. Let’s not forget the famous Terry the Dog, who was billed as Toto. The film was nominated for an Academy Award, but lost to Gone with the Wind. It was reintroduced in a broadcast television premier in 1956.

On September 15, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Sylvia M. Burwell announced more than $87 million in funding for 1,310 health centers in every U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and the Pacific Basin. In Tennessee, 26 health centers will share more than $1.6 million.
