Lead Patient Access Services Representative
The Lead Patient Access Services Representative reports to the Patient Access Services Representative Manager and has full knowledge of the registration/medical billing process as it relates to verifying and updating patient demographic information, collecting and posting payments/co-pays, scheduling patients, verifying insurances, and reconciling credit card transactions.<br /> &nbsp;<br /> <strong><u>Essential Duties/Responsibilities:</u></strong> <ol style="list-style-type:lower-roman;"> <li value="5">Exhibits good customer service skills with a caring, courteous attitude while maintaining a smooth workflow by efficiently processing patients.</li> <li value="5">Answers patients&rsquo; questions and provides non-medical information and/or directs them to the appropriate person or department.</li> <li value="5">Informs patients of any delays in the provider&rsquo;s schedules and estimated wait times.</li> <li value="5">Serves as a resource for staff, including handling escalated issues and interacting with patients and providers effectively.</li> <li>Verifies health insurance payment information and educates patients on the applicable regulations.</li> </ol> <ol style="list-style-type:lower-roman;"> <li value="5">Makes, cancels and reschedules patient appointments maintaining appointment schedule according to office procedure.</li> <li value="5">Follows up on missed appointments and attempts to reschedule patients.</li> <li value="5">Assists in the hiring of patient services representative staff; provides feedback for performance evaluations; participates in the training and orienting of staff; identifies and helps resolve staff and operational issues.</li> <li value="5">Collects and presents key operations performance measures data weekly (telephone responsiveness, third next available appointment, no show rates, and productivity per service delivery site).</li> <li>Cross-trains in all department job functions.</li> <li value="5">Oversees patient access daily functions during the patient access service manager absence.&nbsp; &nbsp;</li> <li value="5">Performs other duties as assigned to meet the goal of providing high-quality primary health care services.</li> </ol>

Requirements <strong><u>Education/Experience:</u></strong> <ol style="list-style-type:lower-roman;"> <li value="5">High School Diploma or equivalent required.</li> <li value="5">Minimum of 3 years of experience in a medical office or facility; ambulatory care setting a plus.</li> <li value="5">Demonstrated excellent customer service attitude/behavior</li> <li value="5">Demonstrated proficiency in multi-tasking; flexibility; time management; organization, attention to detail; scheduling; professionalism; quality focus.</li> <li>Familiar with Medicaid managed care and Medicare eligibility, authorization and billing requirements a plus.</li> <li value="5">Functions well in a team-focused environment.</li> <li value="5">Demonstrates independent problem solving and critical thinking abilities.</li> <li value="5">Electronic health record (EHR) experience, particularly NextGen.</li> <li value="5">Demonstrated computer skills including but not limited to: MS Word and Excel, E-Mail, 10 Key.</li> </ol>
