Chief Medical Officer
Memphis Health Center, Inc., is a nonprofit, 501©(3) federally qualified health center that has served the Memphis area since 1970. The Health Center was established with the goal of increasing access to comprehensive primary and preventive healthcare to underserved areas. Since its inception, the Health Center has been true to its mission by improving the status of the underserved and vulnerable populations in Memphis, Shelby and Fayette counties.
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Chief Medical Officer to plan, organize and direct, all aspects of the clinical program for the Heath Center. The Chief Medical Officer is appointed by the Chief Executive Officer and with the concurrence of the Board of Directors, the Chief Medical Officer works as a part of the clinical team.
The Chief Medical Officer will ensure all clinical programs are in compliance with regulatory requirements, develop strategic clinical relationships with physicians in the local medical community and have familiarity with a variety of the field concepts, practices and procedures. Additionally, the Chief Medical Officer will lead and direct the work of others with a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
The successful candidate will have graduated from an accredited medical school with a degree of Doctor of Medicine, completed an approved residency program in internal medicine and/or family practice, as well as be Board Certified (preferred), received an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Tennessee, as well as have privileges to admit and care for patients at a local hospital.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
? Devote 50% of time to direct patient care. Devote 50% of time to administrative duties.
? Oversee the day-to-day operation of all clinical services in all locations.
? Supervise and evaluate physician, mid-level and other assigned staff. Confers with the Human Resources Director in the selection, promotion, discipline and discharge of clinical staff.
? Meet regularly with the clinical staff to receive their input and share information. Serves as a liaison between the clinical staff and CEO.
? Plan, organize and direct Clinical Programs, and implement specific action steps toward achieving goals of the organizational and meeting accreditation standards.
? Implement clinical components of any Program Guidance publications from the Department of Health and Human Services.
? Work in conjunction with the Performance Improvement Committee and Quality Assurance Committee.
? Work cooperatively with the Executive Team to provide direction, develop plans and programs with related budget.
? Represent the organization to the community; serves as liaison to, and coordinate care with, other community providers.
The successful candidate will have:
?A minimum of five (5) years clinical experience (both inpatient and outpatient) and three (3) years of relevant administrative experience.
?Experience working with indigent/minority/rural populations is helpful and preferred.
?The ability to relate with warmth and effectiveness to the patients and other health care providers of the community health center.
