SERIES - Connecting and Strengthening Workforce
In our efforts to promote workforce, TPCA strives to connect people and strengthen strategies that will help people develop their skills for business success. In essence, the “Connecting and Strengthening Workforce” Series will introduce employees to strategies that will make them more productive in the workplace which will benefit employees and employers alike. Workforce Development is not a one-off training, it is a continuous process of educating and equipping employees to face the challenges of tomorrow. This series will feature sessions that provide strategies on employee retention and recruitment, as well as promoting career well-being within the workplace.

SESSION - Grief in the Workplace — When It's Not Business as Usual
Grieving for someone who has passed away can be one of life's most painful experiences. It is likely to take a toll on one's emotional and physical health. Unhealthy thoughts and feelings will trigger sadness and even tears in the workplace when you are least expecting it, no matter how diligent you try to suppress them.

Feelings of grief and loss can be accompanied by feelings of guilt, anger, uncertainty, denial, regret, and other strong emotions. Do you know that there is no right way to grieve, so the decision is yours, and you should do what is best for you in your moments of sadness? Our grief is influenced by our personal experiences, and different workplace cultures may affect how we grieve and how we experience loss.

Participants will learn about the dynamics of grief and loss, identify ways grief occurs in the workplace, discuss strategies for supporting oneself and others during grief, and get access to resources.

Speaker: Marcello Scalzo, Community Relationship Manager, Alive Hospice
