During the 2016 legislative session, the Tennessee General Assembly passed legislation authorizing the commissioner of health to develop a comprehensive state oral health plan. The plan may be used to direct skilled personnel and funding decisions in order to reduce the prevalence of oral disease. This is significant progress as Tennessee is one of just 11 states that does not currently have an oral health plan.
